Monitoring the air, soil, bacteria, worms, birds, insects and so on can provide valuable information on how the activities of a community are affecting the environment around it.

In particular, a community that is close to pristine nature can gently monitor and then help manage it as sort of a wild garden, rather than bring heavy equipment in and dominate it as is the habit of those from the Western mindset.
